Laguna Beach alum Kristin Cavallari’s new book is finally here!
Kristin gets real in her brand-new lifestyle book, “Balancing in Heels,” where she dishes on her days on Laguna and The Hills, marriage and motherhood. Plus it’s filled with lots of yummy healthy recipes, workouts, style tips and beauty secrets.
I had the chance to interview Kristin back in January for an article in the Spring 2016 issue of NS Magazine. She was the absolute SWEETEST and so much fun to talk to. And the book is seriously great. I started reading the intro and ended up reading almost the whole thing in one night.
Kristin and I talked her new book, new baby and new projects in the works for 2016, including big plans for her jewelry line, Emerald Duv.
What inspired you to write a lifestyle book?
Kristin Cavallari: I wanted to write it just because I feel like I’ve come such a long way in the last 10 years, and I think that people think that they know me coming from reality TV, but they really don’t. I feel like I’m at a really good place in my life where I’m ready to open up and share my life with people and really let people in. So I’m a little nervous, but I’m more excited than anything.
What do you think is the biggest takeaway of the book?
KC: I think the main message behind the whole book is that in order to truly be happy you have to ultimately love yourself and be comfortable in your own skin. And I think that’s really the journey that I talk about.
Do you have a favorite recipe in the book?
KC: One of my favorite recipes is Peanut Butter Chicken. My mom made for me—my brother and I—growing up, and it was one of my absolute favorites. Now I make it for dinner all the time and it’s my boys’ absolute favorite meal.
What are you most looking forward to in 2016?
KC: Well obviously the book coming out, I mean that’s huge. I’m just really excited for people to get to know me. It’s the first time in my whole career that I’ve really put myself out there and been really honest and real like this. And so I hope it’s going to be great; I hope people are going to respond well to it. And then if it does well I would love to do a follow-up cookbook, so hopefully I’ll be working on that come this fall.
What other projects can we look forward to from you this year?
KC: I’m excited for Emerald Duv, because we’re going to do almost like a relaunch. We’re going to do more dainty, stackable pieces that are easy to incorporate with the stuff already in your closet, which is more my style, and so I’m really looking forward to that. I think the quality is going to be better. We also launched hats and candles, and we’re just looking to really take Emerald Duv to a lifestyle place.
