Day 5 was the last day of voting!
The rings, dresses, cakes, flowers, favors and cocktails have all been chosen, and with all the little details worked out it’s time to think about the honeymoon!
This category was definitely the most over-the-top of anything we’ve seen so far. The three destinations up for voting: Hawaii, Thailand and Greece.
Option 1: Hawaii
This 10-day getaway includes five days on Kauai filled with a helicopter tour, fishing expedition, Lu’au and lots of lounging by the pool (complete with two waterfalls and grotto.). The last five days of the trip would be spent surfing, snorkeling, horseback riding, and zip lining in Maui—basically everything you could ever want on an island vacation.
Option 2: Thailand
Kaitlin and John would arrive at the resort in Koh Yao Noi by private helicopter, where a private beachfront pool, personal gym and yoga pavilion await them. Activities include: Southeast Asian cooking classes, cave kayaking, and kickboxing classes with a former Thai champion.
Option 3: Greece
Starting in Mykonos, the newlyweds could spend time at their private pool, charter a private boat around the island, go snorkeling and taste wine at a famous vineyard. Next it’s off to Crete, where they can shop, dine at the finest restaurants and explore the beaches.
Reaction: Can I come?? Condé Nast Traveler Contributing Editor Mark Ellwood did call out “buddymoons” as a trend (where you bring family and friends along with you). Just saying…
It seems like the favorite of voters online was Greece (it goes perfectly with the Big Fat Greek Wedding theme, after all), but I’m voting for Thailand. It’s been on my list of places to visit for a while now, and I know it’s on Kaitlin and John’s list too.
They also announced the musical performer today: triple platinum recording artist Andy Grammer! Andy also headlined the Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago Half Marathon last year, so my mom, stepdad and I got to see him in concert last summer after I finished the race. His whole set was SO much fun and he had everyone on their feet—even after running 13 miles in 80-degree heat. We had the best time and he’ll be the perfect wedding performer!
So tomorrow, the bridal party and family of the bride and groom are off to New York! After our plane lands we race off to dress fittings, where we’ll find out what bridesmaid dresses America voted for. Then Wednesday it’s rehearsals all day, and Thursday it’s showtime!
Stay tuned for the wedding live Thursday morning on NBC, and look out for a post-wedding recap!
