Today was a big day! Day two of the first week of wedding planning was all about rings and bridesmaids dresses.
Kaitlin and John looked super cute on the segment, where they pulled each of the ring sets out of gift boxes as the editor-in-chief of BRIDES magazine, Keija Minor, described the three options in detail.
Option 1: Rose Gold
The first set of rings is a beautiful rose gold set from ArtCarved. The bride’s band is dainty and pretty with diamonds all the way around, and the groom’s band is the most classic and traditional of the three.
Reaction: While some people thought the rose gold was too trendy, I think it’s beautiful and has an elegant vibe that’s almost vintage looking, which I LOVE. After showing this around to friends, a few even said this is exactly what they want for their own rings, too.
Option 2: Mix and match
The second set of rings comes with a gorgeous platinum band by TWO by London surrounded by large rose-cut diamonds, 1.85 carats in total. The groom’s band, designed by Todd Reed at Greenwich Jewelers, is black jade and sterling silver ring.
Reaction: The diamond band looked like it would pair best with Kaitlin’s engagement ring. It’s classic and makes a beautiful, subtle statement. The groom’s band is super cool with the two mixed metals, but definitely steers from the traditional look. Overall I loved this set! The bride band is the perfect amount of glam—right up Kait’s alley.
Option 3: Color
The third set, both by Henri Daussi, plays up nontraditional diamonds. The bride’s band by features yellow diamonds and a gold eternity band, and the groom’s band is a classic silver that’s rimmed with black diamonds on either side.
Reaction: I am completely obsessed with the yellow diamond band—but not necessarily for a wedding band. I think this one would look great with a gold ring, but with Kaitlin’s silver ring it’s just too contrasting for me. I did love the hidden sparkle in the groom’s band, though, and think this would also be a great option.
Prediction: Really, you can’t go wrong with any of these ring options. I’m in love with the rose gold set, but for Kaitlin and John, I think the mix and match set will match their styles the best.
AND THEN THERE WERE BRIDESMAID DRESSES!
This was obviously of the most concern to me today, since it’s what I’ll be wearing for the big day. The three bridesmaid dress options included: a navy blue Donna Morgan two piece, a Dessy Group Grecian-style gown in a blush color, and a floor-length floral strapless dress from David’s Bridal.
I actually didn’t even vote in this category until the afternoon because I could. not. decide. which one I liked best. While the two-piece is trendy right now, I’ve never been into the crop top trend and I think national TV is probably the wrong place to start. It just wasn’t for me (midi skirts are also a bad look on me). But I was really torn between the last two.
The blush pink is so gorgeous (this was actually the color that Kaitlin had envisioned for her bridesmaid dresses) and the style is so elegant and very red-carpet esque. This option also would feature three shades of pink, and each bridesmaid would wear a different shade, creating an photo-worthy ombré effect. But the floral gown is just so pretty for spring and I know the style would be ultra flattering on all the girls.
Prediction: The social media favorite was definitely the blush dress. Everyone couldn’t get enough of this dress, and it would definitely go with the chic New York wedding vibe. I’d be thrilled to wear either of the last two options!
