Spring is here! Which means it’s time for a hair makeover.
Every spring/summer I like to go a little brighter, but this month I really went for it. These are the photos I sent my stylist, Melissa LaFollette at Emmett Rode Salon in Chicago, for inspiration. And while we didn’t end up going quite as light, I’m super happy with the results! Melissa also does Whitney Bischoff’s hair from Chris’ season of The Bachelor, so she knows good blonde.
We did partial face-framing highlights to brighten the top and around the face, paired with a brighter blonde balayage throughout. Melissa finished it off with a toner to pull out some of the more golden tones. My hair naturally has golden undertones, so it’s a little more of a process to get that bleach-blonde look through the ends.
I didn’t think I loved balayage on blondes (it’s just so pretty on dark hair!), but now I’m obsessed. The balayage helped me get lighter throughout like I’ve been wanting, but it’ll still grow out well and looks more natural near the roots.
I’m still getting used to the length, which is a little short for me, but I LOVE the way it looks with a curl in it and can’t wait to play around with different styles.
