Spring break is the perfect time of year to finally cross some good books off your reading list. Whether you’ll be passing time on a long flight, sipping cocktails by the pool, or having a staycation at home, you won’t want to put down these five page-turners.
1. Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
As someone who’s currently trying to live a more creative life, this one’s been on my list since it was released this past fall. Plus, everyone who’s read it (including Emma Watson!) is saying it’s literally changing their lives. This quick read will inspire you to live your most creative life, take chances, be brave and be curious.
“Be brave. Without bravery, you will never know the world as richly as it longs to be known. Without bravery, your life will remain small—far smaller than you probably wanted your life to be.”
2. The Ramblers by Aidan Donnelley Rowley
This highly-anticipated new release already has everyone talking. Three friends—a birdwatcher, a socialite and a tech genius—reunite in New York the week of Thanksgiving, each coming to terms with things from their past that have kept them from moving on with their lives. Described as a love letter to New York City, The Ramblers is a story of loss, love, failed relationships, friendship and hope that you won’t want to put down.
3. Opening Belle by Maureen Sherry
Reese Witherspoon and I pretty much always agree, which is why I’m running out to buy Opening Belle before Reese turns it into a movie. This Wolf of Wall Street x Girl Boss mashup gives a funny, honest look inside what it’s really like being a woman on Wall Street.
4. Me Before You / After You by Jojo Meyers
OK, so you’ve probably already read Me Before You (if you haven’t, read up before the movie is released in June), but if you haven’t read After You make sure to tuck it into your weekend bag. What happens after you lose the one person who means more to you than anything in the world? That’s what Louisa Clark is set to find out. Another set of super quick reads that you’ll fly through. Probably sobbing by the pool, but I promise you won’t want it to end.
5. The Vacationers by Emma Straub
This is the book from last year that I can’t stop recommending to people. The Post family takes a two-week trip to the island of Mallorca (which is also now on my list of must-visit travel desitations) to celebrate Franny and Jim’s wedding anniversary and their daughter Sylvia’s high school graduation. There’s no shortage of family drama and love interests, and the way Straub describes Mallorca makes you feel like you’re actually being transplanted there. This is the ULTIMATE easy, breezy beach read.
